Letter deliveries have changed
From 15 April 2024, estimated delivery timeframes for regular and priority letters have changed. Please note, letters may be delivered earlier than the timeframes shown on our website as we make progressive delivery model changes across the country through to the end of 2025.

Postage for sending a regular letter is determined by size, thickness and weight.
Small letter or card (maximum 250g)

If your letter exceeds these measurements, it may need to be sent as a large letter or parcel.
As a guide, 250g is approximately 50 sheets of standard A4 80gsm copy paper.
Large letter

There are three prices for large letters depending on the weight of the letter – 125g, 250g and 500g.
As a guide, 500g is approximately 100 sheets of standard A4 80gsm copy paper.

If your envelope exceeds the measurements of a large letter, it must be sent as a parcel.

Choose to send using our regular or Priority letter service. Priority letters cost an additional 70c, and are delivered faster than regular letters.1

Apply the correct postage and label
Apply your stamp(s) and if sending by Priority, affix a Priority label to the left of your stamp(s) as shown.
Post your letter
To get your letter on its way, simply post it over the counter at a Post Office or in a red Street Posting Box.2

You could be eligible for a reduced rate on domestic postage with concession stamps.
You can purchase a reduced rate Christmas stamp during the months of November and December to send your Christmas and seasonal greeting cards.

2 All delivery times are based on the number of business days items take to arrive following the day of posting. Monday - Friday clearance times for street posting boxes vary depending on location (check the details on your local box). Items posted after the clearance time and on weekends or public holidays are considered to be lodged the next business day.
